and text. Each course includes a major global team project that requires students to work remotely with students from the other partner schools.

Leading and Managing Global Organizations
Global managers who develop communication and leadership skills and understand cultural differences have competitive advantage. You will identify leadership and managerial skills that are important to global management. You will also explore the impact of culture on personal and organizational effectiveness.

  • Sample global team research project topics:   People/cultural issues to consider when planning and implementing cross-border mergers and acquisitions;  Similarities and differences of successful leaders in different world regionsHow organizations enhance expatriate success and approaches expatriates use to excel in global assignments

Global Operations Management
This course focuses on aligning operations strategy with overall business strategy, with emphasis on process analysis and supply chain management. You will learn concepts and techniques needed to design, plan, drive and control service and manufacturing operations in a global economy.

  • Sample global team research project topics:   Supplier relationships and outsourcing; Operational challenges for a global enterprise; Information flow and collaboration in industry supply chains  (Read the global team interview for information about how they approached this project topic.)

Global Marketing Management
Effective and successful global marketing balances globally-integrated strategies with defined local needs. You will analyze multi-national organizations and their efforts to create long-term customer satisfaction across a global market.

  • Sample global team project:  Research a global corporation’s marketing strategy and examine how management competes in different international markets. Use this information to prepare a global marketing plan to address a specific global marketing issue currently impacting the company.      

Corporate Finance in a Global Environment
Maximizing corporate value in a global environment requires a clear framework integrated with a range of international financial concepts. You will develop an understanding of these key features and explore how financial policy interacts with corporate strategy. Your global team project will require you to develop the “financial mindset” needed to analyze, plan and make real-world financial decisions.

  • Sample global team research project:  Compare and contrast the value-creation process for four companies in the same industry in different world regions.   Analyze the potential for transferring value-creation activities from one company to another across regions. 

Strategy in a Global Arena
A key challenge in developing a global business strategy is aligning the organization’s resources with its long-term goals, while considering converging global forces and local variations.  In global teams, you’ll discuss and analyze the strategic challenges and choices facing organizations seeking to expand into emerging markets. You will learn to identify, assess and evaluate the strategic behavior of multinational businesses.

  • Sample global team research project:  Identify and research two top-performing companies in a particular industry:  one based in a developed country and another based in a developing country.  Analyze each company’s positioning and competition strategies, strengths and weaknesses, financial performance and competitive trends.  Write recommendations for how each company can sustain its competitive position over the next 5-10 years.
