Susan Palmer is a faculty advisor in UNC Executive Development and an adjunct professor of organizational behavior at UNC Kenan-Flagler.
She teaches strategic human capital management and provides executive coaching for the Executive MBA Programs.
She has designed custom executive programs at UNC Kenan-Flagler for global organizations, including Caterpillar, Cisco, C.K. Birla Group, Duke Energy, Forest Labs, Grant Thornton, John Deere, La-Z-Boy, Monsanto, Novartis, Owens Corning, SAS Institute, Siemens, Telkom SA and Xerox. She delivered the School’s first executive development programs in India, Mexico and South Africa. She also designs executive programs for HR professionals with a focus on building business acumen.
Dr. Palmer has built and managed strategic partnerships with the Society for Human Resource Management, Center for Creative Leadership and Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Ciudad de México.
She was a HR executive with Wells Fargo in San Francisco and Prudential Financial in New York before she joined UNC Kenan-Flagler. She consults on human capital issues in industries ranging from biotechnology to financial services.
Dr. Palmer has held elected office in the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, a division of the American Psychology Association, and served on the editorial board of Personnel Psychology.
She received the Weatherspoon Award for Exceptional Performance at UNC Kenan-Flagler. She serves on Mary Baldwin College’s Alumnae/i Association Board of Directors and the N.C. Cancer Hospital’s Patient and Family Advisory Board.
She received her PhD in industrial and organizational psychology from North Carolina State University and her BA from Mary Baldwin College.
