Albert H. Segars
will discuss trends and paradoxes of business strategy at the 2009 Megatrends Speakers Series presented by The University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School on Tuesday, Nov. 17.
Segars is the faculty director of the Center for Sustainable Enterprise, the RBC Bank Distinguished Professor and chair of the strategy and entrepreneurship area at UNC Kenan-Flagler.
Based on new research, Segars will discuss key methods and modes of strategic planning that identify trends and emerging paradoxes in business models. He will explore how firms that missed changing trends have floundered and how innovative firms that embraced unconventional trends have prospered.
"UNC Kenan-Flagler is deeply committed to sharing our professors’ expertise and research in ways that have a positive impact on the practice of business," said James W. Dean Jr., dean of UNC Kenan-Flagler. "This event provides an opportunity for a range of business people to network and learn more about ideas that have significance for their work."
The Megatrends Speakers Series event begins with a 6:30 p.m. reception, followed by Segars’ presentation, at the Paul J. Rizzo Conference Center. It is co-sponsored by UNC Executive Development and the MBA for Executives Programs at UNC Kenan-Flagler.
