Kenan-Flagler recruited new faculty scholars in the key areas of finance, marketing and management.

"We are delighted to be adding this wonderful group of faculty to our Kenan-Flagler community," said Julie Collins, senior associate dean of academic affairs. "They augment our teaching and research expertise in critical areas of importance for the School."

  • Sridhar Balasubramanian joins Kenan-Flagler's marketing area from the University of Texas at Austin. His current research interests include modeling competition within and between Internet, catalog and retail channels; channel portfolio management; asset-based approaches to customer relationships; the implications of e-commerce and m-commerce for markets and marketing; the design and pricing of consumer options; and the economic leverage of virtual communities. He holds a PhD from Yale, an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management and a bachelor's degree in engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology.

  • Henry Cao joins the finance area from the University of California at Berkeley. He teaches the core undergraduate finance courses and a doctoral seminar. His areas of interest include investments, portfolio management, options pricing and corporate finance. He earned a PhD in finance from UCLA, a PhD in pathology from Yale, a bachelor's of science degree in molecular biology from the University of Science and Technology in China.

  • David Hofmann joins Kenan-Flagler's management area, in the organizational behavior group, from Michigan State University. His research focuses on performance over time, levels of analysis and how employee outcomes are influenced by organizational climate and leadership. He teaches the core MBA course "Leading and Managing" and is developing an elective on "Leading Teams in Organizations." He earned a PhD in industrial and organizational psychology from Pennsylvania State University, a master's degree in industrial and organizational psychology from the University of Central Florida and his bachelor's degree from Furman University.

  • William Putsis joins Kenan-Flagler's marketing area from London Business School, where he was marketing department chair. Putsis focuses on applying his strong skills in econometrics and industrial organizational theory to solve relevant marketing problems. His research also has focused on the diffusion of new products and the nature of competitive interactions across firms. He teaches in the MBA and Executive Education Programs. He earned PhD and master's of science degrees in consumer economics from Cornell University and a BA in economics from the State University of New York at Binghamton.

  • Adam Reed joins the finance area from Wharton. His research focuses on capital markets, mutual funds, short-selling and equity lending. He teaches corporate finance in the Executive MBA Programs. He received a PhD from Wharton, where he also earned a master's degree in finance. He received a BA in applied mathematics and economics from the University of California at Berkeley. While at Wharton, he developed an executive education course in corporate finance for executives from the Toyota Corporation.

  • Baohong Sun joins the marketing area from Carnegie Mellon University. She teaches the MBA pricing course. Sun's research provides models of rational consumer choice, evaluates the effects of promotions on consumer decisions, forecasts new product adoption and examines customer satisfaction, retention and cross-selling in the service industry. She has a strong econometrics background. She has published in the Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Econometrics and Journal of Business Economics and Statistics. Sun received a PhD from the University of Southern California and a bachelor's of arts from Renmin University of China.
