Networking tips:

  • Network and build relationships with as many people as possible.
  • Work with other alumni - a great resource to answer questions and offer suggestions.
  • Practice making small talk with strangers if you're uncomfortable networking.
  • Follow up on all leads.
  • Creating a tracking system to manage the information you learn.
  • Each time you talk to a contact, create a meaningful impression.

Interviewing tips:

  • The first 30 seconds of an interview are critical. Show your interest, energy, commitment, and desire.
  • Know your resume inside and out. Be prepared to tell a story about every line.
  • Stress the high points of your resume. Don't assume the interviewer has read it.
  • Do your research on the company. Read newspapers daily for current events or trends in the industry.
  • Know the most important attributes of each firm's culture.
  • Be prepared for all types of questions: technical, behavioral, brain-teasers, analytical.
