Susan Jarvis (BSBA '79), CPA, was awarded the certified valuation analyst designation by the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.

1980
Members and friends of the MBA Class of 1980 recently gathered in Wrightsville Beach, N.C., for their 23rd annual Memorial Day get-together. Attending were: Virginia Bruce Scott, Stuart Phenix, George Ramsay, John Day, Wayne Gibbs, Jim Bailey, Duffy Hickey, Meg Talbot Davenport and Nancy Carr Korman.

Theresa Gaffey (MBA '82) works for the state of Minnesota as an editor in the Office of Environmental Assistance.

Michael Hussey (MBA '84) relocated to Chapel Hill and accepted a position as an adjunct professor at Kenan-Flagler. He remains a partner and senior adviser with the Chicago-based investment counseling firm of Bufka & Rodgers, where he has worked since 1990.

Sharon W. Whitley (BSBA '85) was promoted to senior vice president at BB&T.

1986
Jeffrey Born (PhD '86) was promoted to full professor of finance and senior associate dean for academic affairs at Northeastern University in Boston, Mass.

1987
Andreas Schmidt (MBA '87) joined Swiss Dairy Food AG as chief financial officer. He resides in Berne, Switzerland.
Chuck Sullivan (MBA '87) was promoted to senior vice president of ProLogis Trust.

Charles Marc Abbey (BSBA '87) and Kristen E. Abbey of Annapolis, Md.; a son, Thomas Matthew, on April 19, 2002.

Lee Kiser (BSBA '88) and spouse Estella Christie Kiser (BSBA '89) formed The Kiser Group at Marcus & Millichap. They are senior associates with Marcus & Millichap's Chicago office and are one of the firm's top producers nationwide.
Ming Kin (Malcolm) Lai (MAC '88) is studying for a PhD in computer science at the University of California, Irvine.
Barron Stroud (BSBA '88) of Columbia, Md., joined the law firm of McCarter & English LLP, as a partner resident in the firm's Baltimore, Md., office. He also chairs the firm's employment law group.

Melody Montgomery Giacomino (BSBA '89) left Elan Pharmaceuticals to work with former classmate Jason Desalvo (BSBA '89) as vice president of sales and marketing for medical imaging firm SOS.
Estella Christie Kiser (BSBA '89) left her commercial litigation practice with a downtown Chicago law firm to form a partnership with her husband, Lee Kiser (BSBA '88). Greg Queen (BSBA '89) left Perrigo and relocated to Senegal, Africa, to work as a career missionary.

Rich Campbell (BSBA '90) was recently named partner in Sockwell & Associates, a retained executive recruiting firm with offices in Charlotte and Research Triangle Park.
Pete Frandano (BSBA '90) was recently promoted to manager of Global operations in the Retail information Services Division of Avery Dennison Corp.
Keith F. Karlawish (MBA '90) was named president and chief investment officer at Raleigh-based BB&T Asset Management Inc.

Gregory Faucette (MAC '91) accepted a two-year professional accounting fellowship in the Office of the Chief Accountant of the U.S. Securities and exchange Commission. He was previously in Ernst & Young's National Professional Practice in New York City.

Stan Lindgren (MBA '92) relocated to Bermuda to pursue an opportunity with Trout Trading Management Company, an offshore hedge fund, supporting the fund's private equity portfolio. Most recently, he was with IBM Microelectronic Division in Burlington,Vt.

Rodney McKenzie (MBA '93) joined EG&G Technical Services in Gaithersburg, Md., as director of internal audit.

Carrie Deane (MBA '95) recently appeared as an "extra" on the television show "Frasier" and in an episode of the HGTV network show "Kitchen Design with Joan Kohn" to discuss a project of her kitchen design firm based in Stamford, Conn. Deane placed second in the national Sub-Zero/Wolf Kitchen design contest.

Amy H. Kennemur (BSBA '96), corporate recruiter for Misys Healthcare Systems, recently received her Professional Human Resource certificate.
Kent Scholla (MBA '96) is working for AOL Time Warner as executive director, Vertical Markets Group, in Northern Virginia. He travels frequently between Los Angeles, New York and Washington, D.C. In his spare time, Scholla plays ultimate Frisbee, has started a jogging club, plays guitar and enjoys traveling and spending time in Pamplona, Spain.
Ramesh Shettigar (BSBA '96) was recently promoted to manager, venture monitoring, within the Treasury Groups at Delphi Corp.

Andrew Hart (MBA '98) left Eli Lilly & Co. to accept the position as headmaster of the Oaks academy, a private K-8 inner-city school in Indianapolis, Ind.
Matthew Kahn (MBA '98) has a new position as global marketing manager of sports drinks in the corporate division of Coca-Cola.
Nongluck Pussayapibul (MBA '98) was awarded the Chevening Scholarship to study social policy in the United Kingdom for one year.

Maj. Karson Snyder (MBA '98), U.S. Army infantry, was recalled to active duty, and, although currently stationed at the U.S. Embassy in Amman, Jordan, he is assigned as assistant Army attaché in Islamabad, Pakistan. The photo was taken near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border with Pakistani border troops.
