How Entrepreneurship Can Save the Planet Is Focus of UNC Kenan-Flagler Event

Tom Szaky, chief executive officer and founder of Terracycle, Inc., will speak about “How Entrepreneurship Can Save Our Planet” at the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School on Wed., Nov. 14.  

Entrepreneur magazine named Terracyle, which provides free waste collection programs for hard to recycle materials and turns them into affordable green products, one of “100 Brilliant Ideas in 2010,” and Inc. magazine called his startup "The Coolest Little Start-up in America."

Szaky will speak from 5:30-6 p.m. in Koury Auditorium at UNC Kenan-Flagler.

A panel discussion will follow from 6-7 p.m. featuring Szaky; Daniel Whittaker, founder, Green Planet Catering;  Sam Imende, founder and managing partner, ENZI Footwear; and Luke Fishback, CEO and founder, PlotWatt. Carol Seagle, director of research at the Center for Sustainable Enterprise and an assistant professor of strategy and entrepreneurship at UNC Kenan-Flagler, will moderate.

A networking session will follow from 7-7:30 p.m. 

The event hosted by the Center for Sustainable Enterprise, MBA Net Impact Chapter, Undergraduate Net Impact Chapter and Energy Club at UNC Kenan-Flagler. It is part of UNC Global Entrepreneurship Week, the world's largest celebration of innovators and job creators who launch startups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and expand human welfare. It has now grown to more than 115 countries engaging more than 7 million people.
