My Background: I grew up in Efland, NC and earned my undergraduate degree from UNC-Chapel Hill. After graduation, I joined Lehman Brothers in New York City as an Institutional Equity Sales Analyst, where I worked with hedge fund and mutual fund managers in their equity-based investment strategies. Also, at Lehman, I served on an internal microfinance team, working on a long-term housing microfinance project and managing teams for Africa operations and debt & equity financing. I then moved back to North Carolina and also worked for Pearson Education before entering the MBA program.

Career Pursuits: My personal career goal is to work in a role that creatively bridges the gap between the private, public, and non-profit sectors. I’ve spent a great deal of time researching and studying philanthropy, cross-sector partnerships and social entrepreneurship and strongly believe that utilizing the strengths of each sector leads to the most effective outcomes. I came back to business school to gain more experience in engaging the private sector to work with outside stakeholders and to build relationships with tomorrow’s business leaders.

Interest and Hobbies: I enjoy coaching youth sports and, almost year-round, you can find me on Saturdays running around with 5-year-olds for basketball, tee ball or soccer. I also love to cook, follow state and national politics, have weaknesses for poker, wine and good television, and never miss cheering on my Tar Heels during basketball season.
