Background: Although my family is from rural Illinois, I went to high school near Toronto, Ontario and attended Middlebury College in Vermont. There, I received my BA in Philosophy and English. During college, I had the opportunity to study abroad in Ethiopia and to spend a year in post-Katrina New Orleans. After graduation, I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, where I began my career in the solar photovoltaic industry. At Solar Richmond, a non-profit with the mission of deepening connections between people, place, and planet, I was part of a team promoting green jobs and providing holistic vocational training in solar installation to at-risk young adults. I also volunteered at San Quentin State Prison as a visitor facilitator. Later, I joined Sungevity, a B-Corporation that designs and finances distributed solar in the US, the Netherlands and Australia.
Career Interests: As a Project Manager at Sungevity, I had the opportunity to manage a portfolio of solar projects and subcontractor crews. I also represented my department in strategic growth analysis and an enterprise CRM development project. These experiences solidified my passion for working in social entrepreneurship. I hope to return to the solar industry after my MBA. I have a particular interest in working on project management and project finance models for non-profit and community solar installations.
Interests and Hobbies: I have a great love for bike camping, lake swimming, books, live music and outdoor movie nights. I have traveled to 17+ countries, including touring Vietnam and Laos by bicycle.
