The Business Growth Initiative helps communities strengthen and expand their existing industry base, a key and often-overlooked asset for local economic development.
The three-part program:
- Identifies companies in a community that have the highest potential to expand and add jobs.
- Interviews company founders to find out what they need to grow.
- Helps the community identify and mobilize resources to provide needed supports to businesses.
Existing businesses create up to 80 percent of all new jobs in a community. Focused, informed efforts to help them grow provides a significant competitive asset and strong potential for local job creation.
