Background: I was born and raised in Charlotte, NC before attending Wake Forest University where I received my BA in Psychology, minor in Art History. While at Wake, I studied abroad in Barcelona and fell in love with the independence of big city life. After graduation, I moved to New York City where I worked for five years in public relations and digital marketing. My clients were mostly consumer brands and I had the chance to focus largely on corporate social responsibility, sustainability and cause marketing efforts – areas where my interests lie. I love being back in North Carolina and within a short drive of family.

Career Path: I decided to pursue an MBA because I am passionate about implementing responsible business practices that make a positive impact; environmentally, socially and economically in the lives of those they touch. I wanted to take my engagement with this sort of good business from a limited project basis to a more integrated role within a company. Kenan-Flagler’s International ranking among the top ten MBA programs for curriculum in social and environmental stewardship offers me the chance to challenge my curiosity and push my leadership capabilities within the area. I am also interested in many of the entrepreneurship opportunities encouraged by the school and hope to someday launch a venture that demonstrates leadership in triple-bottom-line sustainability.

Interests and Hobbies: Prior to starting school, I was the VP of the New York Board of Nest, a non-profit dedicated to provided interest-free loans, business training and a fair-trade marketplace to women in the developing world. I love getting involved with organizations like these, so hope to do more of that now within the local community. In my free-time, I like being active – yoga, running, skiing (when I can) – and love to travel. I’m hoping to take advantage of as many of Kenan-Flagler’s work and study abroad programs as I can over these next two years.
