Gift speaks to values held by new Kenan Institute director
A new platter on display in the lobby of the Kenan Institute challenges passersby to “Achieve.” “Laugh Often.” Visualize Peace.”
The ABCs of Life platter, a gift from institute director Joe DeSimone’s wife, Suzanne, speaks to the vision and values that have guided the scientist-entrepreneur in his work and life.
“It’s important for us to talk about our values — be clear about them and lead by example,” DeSimone said. “Accept differences, question often, be kind — these are things we should aspire to.”
DeSimone was tapped in July to lead the Kenan Institute, part of UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School. The institute pursues innovations in research, education and public policy to promote entrepreneurship, economic development and global competitiveness.
