Family Enterprise Center

Preparing Next Generation Family Business Leaders

The Family Enterprise Center was created with the support of the internationally recognized Center for Entrepreneurial Studies.

Our mission is to prepare next generation family business leaders to:

  • Lead entrepreneurial, sustainable family enterprises,
  • Create and maintain healthy family and working relationships, and
  • Be responsible stewards of family business assets

Students from all over the world choose UNC Kenan-Flagler and the Family Enterprise Center to prepare them for the challenges of leadership and ownership within their family's enterprise. Past years' courses have included students from Bahrain, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Honduras, India, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Venezuela, and the United States. Students have praised the family business courses and have found participation in the Family Business Club critical to their success as next generation family business leaders.

Steve Miller, adjunct professor, and Cooper Biersach, Director of the Family Enterprise Center, are the founding leaders of the Center.
