Don Rose developed and teaches the MBA course “Healthcare Entrepreneurship: Building a Successful Life Science Venture.”
He is director of Carolina KickStart,
which facilitates and accelerates startup company formation with a focus on biomedical and life science technologies developed by UNC faculty.
Dr. Rose also teaches in the Graduate Certificate in Technology Commercialization and Entrepreneurship
Program at UNC.
Previously he held senior leadership roles at life-science startups, including Metabolon in Research Triangle Park, Deerac Fluidics in Dublin and DataCentric Automation in Nashville.
Dr. Rose was a general partner with Catalysta Partners (now Hatteras Venture Partners), a seed-stage venture fund; co-founder and CEO of Phase Bioscience; and vice president of research and development for Cartesian Technologies. He worked at Hewlett-Packard Laboratories and as a research scientist at Glaxo Wellcome (now GlaxoSmithKline).
He has published eight papers, two book chapters and holds six U.S. patents.
He received his PhD in analytical chemistry and BS in nutrition from the University of North Carolina.
