Doug Ready researches best practices and major industry shifts. His research project entitled World-Class HRD examined 45 major global corporations around the world to identify excellent leadership development and organizational capability building practices. He also focuses on strategic talent management and leading large-scale, enterprise-wide change initiatives.
Dr. Ready founded and leads ICEDR (International Consortium for Executive Development Research), a global learning network in human resource development. The international, partnership-driven alliance of approximately 45 leading global corporations and 20 of the world’s top business schools focuses on building leadership and organizational effectiveness.
Dr. Ready comes to UNC Kenan-Flagler from London Business School, where he served as a visiting professor. Prior to this appointment he was a dean and faculty member at Boston University, Babson College and MIT’s Sloan School of Management.
He has written more than 25 articles on leadership development, change management and top team effectiveness. He also authored the book Champions of Change and edited In Charge of Change. He is a frequent contributor to executive education programs and leadership conferences.
He is an active consultant, helping CEOs, top teams and senior executives to develop organizational and leadership resources, and HR development practices, to sustain global competitiveness. He has worked with the top teams at RBC Financial Group, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Continental AG, Samsung Group, LG Group, and the U.S. Federal Reserve System, to forge cohesive strategy and implementation plans for their newly reconfigured firms.
He received a PhD in global leadership studies from Cranfield School of Management and an MPA in management from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
