Mark Corigliano teaches about alternative energy as well as commodity investing and alternative investments at UNC Kenan-Flagler.
He is a leader in both the energy and investment management industries.
Mr. Corigliano is an investment manager at DUMAC, Inc., the investment management company of Duke University. He works across multiple asset classes including equities, hedge funds, commodities and natural resource private equity. He manages a portfolio of equities in the energy sector and constructs derivatives trades.
He began his career as a field engineer with Schlumberger, the world’s largest oil service company, performing engineering services in the Gulf of Mexico for major exploration and production companies. He lived on offshore drilling rigs for six years, searching the deep waters for oil and gas.
Mr. Corigliano started his investment career at DUMAC, Inc., where he managed a $200 million portfolio of private equity investments in the natural resources sector and implemented a unique and successful commodity futures trading program. He left to become a portfolio manager in natural resource equities for New York-based Proxima Alfa Investments.
In 2009, he founded Belltower Advisors LLC, a $200 million investment management firm that used a long/short equity strategy to generate superior risk-adjusted returns in the energy, mining and materials sectors. He re-joined the DUMAC team to focus on public security investments, commodities and structuring options trades.
He received his MBA from UNC Kenan-Flagler and a BS in mechanical engineering from Cornell University. He is a CFA charter holder.
