Melodie Howard is a program director of Executive Development at the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School. Melodie has an extensive background in organizational and leadership development, including heading up Group Organizational Development for Partner Reinsurance in Bermuda, a lengthy career with the Center for Creative Leadership and her own consulting work in succession and talent management.
Melodie’s career in leadership and talent development began in 1988 at the Center for Creative Leadership. Throughout her career at CCL, she served in a number of senior roles, including developing and managing the business development function for close to a decade, managing the custom programs division internationally and driving strategic relationships for CCL. She has worked with the UNC team previously in a client partnership between UNC and CCL.
At Partner Reinsurance, Melodie worked with the executive committee to establish a talent management model and process for their top leadership worldwide, developed senior leadership conferences, provided training and development programs and worked with business units to deliver their management development and talent management goals.
Melodie returned from Bermuda in 2008 to spend more time with her family and form her own consulting company. She has served as an independent consultant for corporate and healthcare clients in the areas of talent management and executive coaching.
Melodie has her MS in organizational development from Pepperdine University and her BS in psychology from Guilford College. She is certified in the use of MBTI, Benchmarks, Skillscope, FIRO-B, the Strength Deployment Inventory (SDI) and the Workplace Big 5 and has attended the initial portion of the Internal Columbia Coaching Intensive.
Melodie is a voracious reader and enjoys gardening and home improvement projects. She also enjoys spending time with her grown daughter and extended family.
