Join this year's global sustainability symposium The Story of Cities: Global and Local Perspectives on the Quest for Thriving and Sustainable Communities to examine the factors that create healthy and innovative communities where people and businesses thrive across the globe. UNC Global Sustainability Symposium: "Water and Energy in the Crosshairs"
February 6-8, 2013

The third annual UNC Global Sustainability Symposium, titled “Water and Energy in the Crosshairs,” is a cross-disciplinary collaboration between UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School’s Center for Sustainable Enterprise and Center for International Business Education and Research, UNC Global’s Center for European Studies, Center for Slavic, Eurasian, and East European Studies, African Studies Center, and the UNC Institute for the Environment supported with funding from the U.S. Department of Education and the European Union.

“Water and Energy in the Crosshairs” brings together local and global experts to explore key issues related to water and energy in an inter-disciplinary and community gathering. The symposium gathers a diverse audience comprised of faculty, students, business and civic leaders, and citizens of the tri-county region near UNC, with the goal of increasing understanding of issues important to human and ecological peace, health, and well-being. Beyond education, the symposium aims to present possible solutions with examples of best practices, to stimulate a productive discussion, and to enrich the network of those interested and informed about issues like climate change and water.

Building on last year’s successful event, in which eight top-notch MBA schools fielded teams (including NYU, the 2009 winner), we aim to broaden the SVCIC education this year.  In addition to negotiations with real entrepreneurs and feedback from experienced VC judges, the SVCIC team plans on providing more education to participants prior to the weekend of the competition.
