Mission

UNC Kenan-Flagler Pride Club strives to enrich the experience and culture for LGBTQ students enrolled at UNC Kenan-Flagler and to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students.

Leadership Team

Nipun SehgalNipun Sehgal - Co-President

Preferred Pronouns: He,Him,His 

Nipun was born and raised in New Delhi, India and studied Civil Engineering. He initated his career at L&T Ltd, one of the best construction companies in India, and worked in Procurement, Planning and Client Management for almost 3 years in Oman at an Airport Project. He spent the following 2 years heading his own Construction and Architecture Firm in New Delhi, India before starting his MBA at UNC Kenan-Flagler. He is currently concentrating in Marketing and loves the theatre, creative arts and socializing at various events.

Eric InslerEric Insler - Co-President

Preferred Pronouns: He,Him,His

Eric has spent his whole life moving further down the East Coast. Born and raised in New York State, he went to college at the University of Delaware and then worked as a banking consultant with EY in Washington, DC. After a two year sojourn in the US Peace Corps in Nicaragua where he did LGBTQ outreach work, Eric moved to North Carolina to begin his MBA studies at UNC. He is concentrating in Operations Management and Sustainable Enterprise.

Li YinLola Yin - VP of Finance

Preferred Pronouns: She,Her,Hers

Lola is a class of 2018 MBA student concentrating in Corporate Finance and Entrepreneurship. She is born and raised in Chengdu (the hometown of pandas!), China. Upon receiving her B.S. in accounting from Sichuan University, she began her career as an auditor. After that, she worked as a management consultant in fiance effectiveness. Also, Lola is an ultra-trail runner, a rock climber and a photographer.

Kathleen ZakharKathleen Zakhar - VP of Communications

Preferred Pronouns: She,Her,Hers 

Hailing from the deserts of Tucson, Kathleen graduated with a dual degree in Finance and Creative Writing from the University of Arizona. She moved to New York City and was as a Literary Agent focusing on science-fiction & fantasy. Wanting a more corporate role, Kathleen later held a legal procurement position at Barclays. At UNC Kenan-Flagler she is pursuing concentrations in Marketing and Operations. When there's free time, Kathleen enjoys reading in hammocks, hiking, and embroidery.

Kate WatsonKate Watson - VP of Learning & Development‚Äč

Preferred Pronouns: She,Her,Hers 

Kate was born in Dearborn, MI and spent most of her life in the Mitten State, earning a degree in Economics shortly before leaving. In 2012, she moved to Arkansas to teach high school math with Teach For America. After spending 2 years in the Mississippi Delta, she headed to Atlanta to continue furthering Teach For America’s mission as a nonprofit professional. In her free time, Kate enjoys kayaking, going to the beach, and spending time with friends and family.

Molly BirnbaumMolly Birnbaum - VP of Community Service

Preferred Pronouns: She,Her,Hers 

Originally hailing from Brooklyn, NY, Molly attended Wesleyan University where she majored in Sociology and Dance. After graduation, Molly received a fellowship to co-found and launch the pilot of the Wesleyan Center for Prison Education, an accredited college-in-prison program that offers liberal arts classes to incarcerated students. After her fellowship, she served as a counselor and project manager of school operations/support services for at-risk teens in non-traditional high schools across Brooklyn. In addition to her role with the PRIDE Club at Kenan-Flagler, Molly holds leadership positions with the Consulting Club and UNC’s Consortium for Graduate Study in Management, a national fellowship program dedicated to increasing the representation of underrepresented minorities in business schools and corporate management.

Phillip YeroPhillip Yero - VP of Corporate Relations

Preferred Pronouns: He,Him,His 

Phillip began his professional career in HR in Minneapolis after getting a Master's degree there, moving shortly after to New Orleans with his partner. They then moved to Durham and, after a few more years in the HR field, Phillip decided to go back to school for an MBA and pursue a career in Marketing.

Kaiyue CaoCarrie Cao - VP of International Experience

Preferred Pronouns: She, Her, Hers 

Carrie was born in Dalian, China, and she has spent her whole life moving around in China. She began as a Project Manager in a pharmaceutical development and manufacturing firm in Choongqing, where hotpot is the most famous food within that area, and then gradually transferred her career towards finance. Carrie is also an active skier and a beginner in surfing and kayaking.

Jake Stallard - VP of Fundraising

Preferred Pronouns: He,Him,His 

After growing up in Daytona Beach, often referred to as the cultural gem of East Central Florida, Jake attended University of Florida and Vanderbilt University, where he got degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education, respectively. After completing his Master’s, Jake worked in a variety of educational settings with learners ranging from 5 years to 65 years of age. Jake hopes to combine his passion for education with his newfound business acumen to make an impact in an education-focused nonprofit.
