Mission

The MBASA is comprised of student-led organizations within the MBA Program. The goal of the MBASA is to enhance the UNC Kenan-Flagler experience for students by offering educational, professional, and community-building opportunities. There are over 40 different groups that make up the MBASA, covering careers, diversity, activities, and more. We encourage all students to consider the many opportunities available in the MBASA and to become involved as both a member and a leader.

Leadership Team

Jason Perocho - President

PerochoJason graduated from the US Naval Academy where he ran track and mastered the use of an iron. He was commissioned as a pilot in the Navy and additionally held notable positions in the Pentagon, working as a Speech Writer and Program Manager for the Assistant Secretary of the Navy & Under Secretary of Defense. Outside of the Navy, Jason founded a non-profit for young professionals afflicted with cancer in the DC region and was president of a young adult recreational league. At UNC Kenan-Flagler, Jason is concentrating in Marketing & Entrepreneurship and enjoys playing soccer with his classmates.

Charles Townsend - Executive VP

TownsendCharles grew up in Barrington, Rhode Island. An avid skier, he attended the University of Colorado at Boulder. After college Charles remained in Colorado and worked in the corporate online marketing department for Vail Resorts. During his 6 years there, he helped manage the website platform for the ski resort side of the business and was primarily focused on e-commerce and user experience. Outside of school, Charles enjoys baseball, live music, running, swing dancing, grilling and blogging about sandwiches.

Kerry Rigley - VP of Student Actitivies

RigleyKerry is from Long Island, New York and attended the University of Maryland where she studied finance and psychology. Prior to business school, Kerry worked as a consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP (PwC) in Washington D.C where she supported clients with strategy and operational change initiatives. Kerry enjoys playing volleyball, hiking, and a good day on the beach.

Jessica Fischburg - VP of Communications

FischburgJessica is originally from Norwich, CT and attended Boston University for undergrad. She spent 5 years working in E-commerce and Business Development for family business before coming to UNC Kenan-Flagler. At UNC Kenan-Flagler, Jessica is concentrating in General Management and is the MBASA VP of Communications, a Legacy Rep, and an active member of JBA and KFBS Pride.

Sloan Harris- VP of Social Affairs

HarrisSloan Harris hails from Westchester, New York. He graduated from Tufts University in 2007 and after trading at a hedge fund for 5 years, joined the UNC Kenan-Flagler community to focus on his interest in investment banking. He is a seasoned social veteran who plans to use his worldly partying experiences to enhance the school's overall social agenda.

Bob Erb - VP of Finance

ErbAfter graduating from New York University, Bob began his career as a credit analyst at Bank of America in Charlotte. Prior to business school, Bob worked at Ernst & Young in the Transaction Advisory Services practice, where he advised corporations on a variety of M&A, capital structure and restructuring advisory engagements. In addition, Bob speaks Italian and enjoys playing ice hockey with his classmates from UNC Kenan-Flagler.

Taylor Mallard - VP of Community Service

MallardTaylor is a Philadelphia native that adventured south to UNC for both her undergraduate degree and now MBA. Between the two education inspired treks to the Old North State, Taylor joined two entrepreneurs in Montana starting an outdoor footwear company – Oboz Footwear. When not studying, Taylor enjoys spending time outside – trekking, climbing, biking & skiing, usually accompanied by her husband, John, and Border Collie, Skeeter.

Gabe Martin - VP of Corporate Sponsorship

MartinOriginally from San Juan, Puerto Rico, Gabe grew up in Washington, DC and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania. After a year working with orphans in Bolivia and teaching English Peru, Gabe came back to Washington and helped launch the higher education division of The Advisory Board Company, a best-practices research and consulting firm. Outside the classroom, Gabe enjoys traveling, running, skiing, and negronis at the Crunkelton.

Alex Dea - VP of Diversity

DeaAlex was born and raised in Rochester, New York. Previously, Alex worked for Deloitte Consulting where he helped companies transform their strategy, operations, and organization through digital innovation. Alex previously lived in Boston, MA, and graduated with degrees in Marketing and Theology from Boston College. Alex is a diehard BC fan, and serves as an adviser to a number of start-up companies and entrepreneurs.

Sean Tracy - VP of Learning

UnknownOriginally from Columbus Ohio, Sean graduated from Harvard where he majored in Economics and played on the football team. Prior to business school, Sean worked in real estate investment for eight years focusing on acquisitions and asset management. Outside of the classroom, Sean enjoys cooking and various outdoor pursuits.

David Opoku - VP of International Relations

OpokuDavid grew up in Ghana and relocated to US after graduating with a degree in Banking and Finance. He worked in commercial banking in Atlanta for years before switching careers to Nursing. David has a BSN from UMASS Amherst, and worked as an RN before coming to UNC Kenan-Flagler. Outside work and school, David enjoys cooking, soccer and spreading the word of God.

Membership Benefits

The MBASA is comprised of student-led organizations within the MBA Program. The goal of the MBASA is to enhance the UNC Kenan-Flagler experience for students by offering educational, professional, and community-building opportunities. There are over 40 different groups that make up the MBASA, covering careers, diversity, activities, and more. We encourage all students to consider the many opportunities available in the MBASA and to become involved as both a member and a leader.

Many of the outside-the-classroom activities are MBASA sponsored and MBASA membership is required for participation in these events. Some of the activities that MBASA supports are:

Career treks and case competitions

Networking events with potential employers and influential alumni

Weekly socials to foster the UNC Kenan-Flagler community

School-wide cultural events, such as Global Night and the Harambee Fashion Show

Annual events for the school, including Gala and Graduation
