- Enhance the educational, cultural, and social experience of Latin American and Hispanic students and their families.
- Inform and educate the UNC Kenan-Flagler community about Latin American and Hispanic culture and business opportunities in the region.
- Increase the awareness of UNC Kenan-Flagler among Latin American and Hispanic students in the United States and throughout world.
- Promote the professional development of Latin American and Hispanic students through the alumni network and career conferences.
Tomas Watson - President
Experienced Relationship Manager currently pursuing an MBA at UNC Kenan-Flagler (Class of 2017) with concentrations in Corporate Finance and Marketing. I received my degree in Business Administration and a master in Finance from Universidad de San Andres in Argentina. With over 7 years of Global Banking experience managing multinational client portfolios at Citibank and HSBC, I understand how to leverage comprehensive sales strategies to increase annual revenues as well as build and maintain sustainable client relationships. I thrive in team-based environments and pride myself on being a responsible, dedicated leader.
I’m an avid soccer and tennis player who is constantly looking for ways to learn about new cultures. I speak 4 languages (fluent English and Spanish, conversational Portuguese and French) and am passionate about giving back to my community. Despite living in the U.S., I remain an active member and volunteer of the British and American Benevolent Society Home, a shelter in Buenos Aires for the frail and elderly who need permanent care.
Alberto H. De La Pena - VP of Finance
Alberto grew up in Lima, Peru. He has a bachelor degree of Economics and studies in Literature. Throughout his career he worked in the Asset Management industry as an Analyst and Portfolio Manager, and he also worked in Private Wealth managing portfolios of high net worth clients. Currently he is studying an MBA at UNC Kenan-Flagler with a concentration in Corporate Finance. Alberto will join JPMorgan, in NYC, for his internship, working in Private Wealth covering Latin American clients.
Jose Garakis - VP of Communications
Jose is pursuing concentrations in Management Consulting and Corporate Finance. Prior to coming to UNC Kenan-Flagler, he worked as Industrial Manager and Member of the Board of Directors in its family business in a company that produces food packaging in Brazil. He also worked as Materials Manager at Pilkington before working to the family business. He graduated in Materials Engineering and did a specialization in project management.
Leonardo Ottoni - VP of Corporate Relations
Leonardo studied industrial engineer as an undergraduate and received his degree from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil. After graduating he worked in consulting for four years, supporting major Brazilian companies to improve their operations. Currently, Leonardo is pursuing his MBA at UNC Kenan-Flagler. He will concentrate his studies in Management Consulting and Operations Management and will join Strategy& for his summer internship. In his free time, Leonardo likes scuba diving and doing outdoor activities.
Daniel Pelichek - VP of Learning & Development
Daniel Pelichek is originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil. He has graduated in Electrical Engineering and, prior to business school, he worked with product development for more than 5 years. He is currently pursuing concetration in operations management and will be interning at Amazon in the summer. Daniel is an avid reader and enjoys watching sports and speaking with his friends.
Martin Rojas Hacker - VP of Hispanic Outreach
Martin received his degree in Mechanical Engineering in Venezuela. He then moved to Pennsylvania to pursue a Master of Manufacturing Management from Penn State University. After graduating, he moved to the Boston area where he worked in operations across different industries. Prior to business school, Martin was working as a Manufacturing Engineer for a medical device firm. Martin is looking to pursuing a career in marketing within the Healthcare Industry. In his free time he enjoys running, playing and watching soccer, and attempting to cook new dishes at home.
Luiz Zillo - VP of Social & Cultural
Luiz Zillo grew up in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He studied business as an undergraduate and received his BA degree from Trevisan Escola de Negócios. Throughout his career he has worked with Wealth Management in Switzerland, he was also a Foreign Exchange trader at Cargill and a treasury specialist at Zilor, his family business. Currently he is pursuing his MBA at UNC Kenan-Flagler, concentrating his studies in Corporate Finance. Luiz will join Laureate Education, in Baltimore, for his internship, working with global treasury.
