Mission | Leadership Team
- Represent the Latin American and Hispanic communities at Kenan-Flagler.
- Enhance the educational, cultural, and social experience of Latin American and Hispanic students and their families.
- Inform and educate the Kenan-Flagler community about Latin American and Hispanic culture and business opportunities in the region.
- Increase the awareness of Kenan-Flagler among Latin American and Hispanic students in the United States and throughout world.
- Promote the professional development of Latin American and Hispanic students through the alumni network and career conferences.
Renato Aguiar - President
Renato studied Advertising & Marketing at ESPM in Sao Paulo, Brazil and has a specialization in Sports Administration and Marketing. He worked for almost eight years in Marketing, Communications and Sales in different industries before coming to Chapel Hill to pursue his MBA. During his free time, Renato can be found cheering on the Tar Heels, watching and playing any type of sports, and exploring restaurants in the Triangle
Emilio Gerbelli - VP of Corporate Sponsorship
Emilio Gerbelli studied business at Insper and communication at FAAP, both schools in Sao Paulo - Brazil. He worked for 4 years leading the consulting department at Insper and prior to that he launched and managed, for two years, a company that provides reforestation projects. Emilio is vice champion of State of Sao Paulo master's swimming championship and during his free time he is training hard to improve his time on the 50 meters freestyle.
Michael Shelhoup - VP of Finance
Michael Shelhoup studied Mechanical Engineering at Universidad Rafael Landivar in Guatemala City, Guatemala. He worked as a service engineer for Krones, the world’s leading manufacturer of bottling machines, for three years. Prior to that he managed a family owed mini storage complex for four years. During his free time, you can find Mike jogging, at the movies, or trying out new restaurants.
Fernanda Castilho - VP of Communications
Fernanda studied Law at FAAP, Brazil and has a certification in Business Administration in Insper, both in Sao Paulo . Before coming to Chapel Hill to pursue her MBA, she worked for 2 years in sales & distribution within an Insurance Company and prior to that worked for 4 years in tax and corporate law. Fernanda loves to travel and during her free time can be found exploring new restaurants in the Triangle.
Alejandra MacFarland - VP of Learning
Alejandra studied Industrial Engineering at Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. Before business school she was a consultant for over 4 years with Deloitte Consulting in Mexico City where she worked in the Consumer Packaged Goods and Retail industries across the US, Mexico and Central America. During her free time, Alejandra likes to run and travel to new places.
Ximena Roth - VP of Hispanic Outreach
Ximena is originally from Mexico but grew up in Miami. After graduating from Boston University, she worked in the non-profit sector in the Chicago area providing immigration legal services as an accredited representative. She’s now tackling the dual responsibility of MBA student & new mom to a beautiful baby boy. She spends a lot of her time with her husband & son, and enjoys dancing, singing, reading, being outside, hanging out with friends, and any combination thereof.
