Ozgur Asik - President
Ozgur Asik was born in Ankara, Turkey where he got his undergraduate degree in Economics from Bilkent University. After graduation he moved to Istanbul, Turkey and started his career in banking. He worked in audit and project finance departments of multinational banks for 9 years. Meanwhile, he earned his MS in Finance degree from Koc University. He served in numerous student clubs and non-governmental organizations throughout his life to benefit the society he lives in. He came to KFBS to increase his understanding of different cultures and make new friends all around the world. In his free times, he loves taking road trips with his wife. He is also a competent sailor, swimmer and table-tennis player.
Paula Gomes - Executive Vice President
Paula moved to the US as a child but is originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil. After graduating from Bucknell University with a degree in Business Management, she worked in financial services marketing and sales gaining experience with both profit and nonprofit organizations. She is pursuing a concentration in Marketing and hopes to transition into a Brand Manager role post MBA. Paula has a passion for connecting people and is excited to be a part of IBA where she can connect international students with their American counterparts through a rich mix of social and professional events. In her spare time, Paula enjoys painting, music, reading, photography and loves to travel every chance she gets.
Ajit Brar - VP of Finance
Ajit was born into a military family in India and grew up moving from one city to another enabling him to learn four languages. He is a Metallurgical engineer from College of Engineering, Pune. Before Kenan-Flagler, he progressed from sales engineer to North-Indian business unit leader with a multinational chemical company and led new growth initiatives of his employer and its key automotive clients in North India, Uzbekistan, and the US. At Kenan-Flagler, he is focusing on graduating as a well-rounded business professional. He loves making new friends, quickly adapts to new cultural norms, and enjoys reading, philately, and squash.
Thalia Boozell - VP of Communications
Thalia grew up in Mexico City and later moving to NC for her high school education. She attended Appalachian State University where she was pre-med and received a degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology. Prior to business school, she worked for an auto finance company in Dallas, TX that specialize in subprime lending. Looking to enter the healthcare industry, she decided to pursue an MBA at UNC Kenan-Flagler to make the career switch into marketing. After her MBA, Thalia intends to work in pharmaceutical marketing. In her spare time, Thalia enjoys working out, reading, and hiking.
Sambhav Jain - VP of Creatives and Social Media
Sambhav is from New Delhi, India. He is an electronics engineer from Delhi College of Engineering, after which he worked with Texas Intruments In India and the US as a sales manager. He also spent considerable time working for his family business based of New Delhi, and is expremely passionate about entrepreneurship. At Kenan-Flagler, he is pursuing concentrations in strategy and entrepreneurship, and marketing. For his summer internship, Sambhav will be working at Amazon in the Retail Leadership Development Program. He loves travelling, live music and making new friends!
Kelly Lynch - VP of Corporate Relations
Kelly was born in Syracuse, NY but moved to Cary, NC when she was 10 because her parents greatly disliked dealing with three kids in snow suits. Despite missing the great white North, Kelly attended UNC-Chapel Hill for undergrad where she majored in Journalism. She decided against the reporter's life after graduation and moved to California to work in the spicy hot tech industry (in recruiting). She then spent a year back in NC working as the marketing communications manager for the full-time MBA program at, you guessed it, UNC Kenan-Flagler. Unable to sit still and craving good ramen, she moved back to San Francisco to work for Google where she spent the three years prior to business school. Besides spending excessive amounts of money moving across the country, Kelly enjoys good bagels, board games, watching hockey, and pretending to be athletic.
Thu Pham - VP of Learning & Development
Thu is a 2018 MBA/MPP candidate at UNC Kenan-Flagler and Duke University. She has held many roles in the public sector, most notably as a Teach for America corps member in New Orleans and organizer during the 2014 governor’s race in Texas. Prior to school, she also gained experiences working for an ed-tech startup and DC think tank. She holds bachelor degrees in journalism and government from the University of Texas at Austin. Born in Vietnam, she has spent most of her life proudly calling Texas home.
Josh Bennett - VP of Learning & Development
Josh graduated from the University of New Orleans with a B.S. in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering (basically a degree for designing ships). After graduating, Josh worked as an engineer planning and executing projects to refloat sunken commercial shipwrecks, taking him to every continent for work except Antarctica. After four years in that role Josh came to Kenan-Flagler to pursue a career transition into management consulting. In addition to his role with IBA, Josh is the President of Christians@Kenan-Flagler and the VP of Finance for the Consulting Club. Outside of school, Josh loves spending time with his wonderful wife, Jasmin, doing anything or nothing.
Elisa Cooper Cszizer - VP of Careers
Elisa is originally from Southeast Georgia, but grew up as a Navy brat living in both Italy and Japan. She received her B.B.A. in Marketing from Georgia College and her Master of Marketing Research (MMR) degree from the University of Georgia. She started her career in Marketing and Market Research with Eli Lilly and Company. While at business school, Elisa is focused on General Management and Corporate Strategy within the Healthcare sector.
Anjanaa Sowjanyaa Nagarajan - VP of Careers
Anjanaa is a first-year student from India. Prior to B-school, she worked for five years supporting global clients with her data analytics. Wanting to learn about the business side she decided to pursue her MBA at UNC Kenan-Flagler as she highly valued the importance given to leadership and overall development at the school. She is enjoying her time at B-school exploring varied interests. She loves playing chess and has recently (re)started writing poetry!
Srishti Sharma - VP of Social Activities
Srishti grew up in multiple cities across India, before settling down in the nation’s capital - Delhi. After getting a dual degree in Business and Law, she worked with a premier law firm in India, on all things M&A and PE (with a smattering of general corporate advisory thrown in). At Kenan-Flagler, Srishti keeps herself busy with her work with the International Business Association, Consulting Club (as one of the VPs) and as the Legacy Representative of one of the greatest legacies ever – Evans. When free, she loves reading, dancing (she’s a trained classical dancer), watching dog-videos and working for animal-rescue projects.
Allan Melo - VP of Social Activities
Allan was born in Brazil and majored in mechanical engineering at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. After graduation, he joined Raizen (an energy company) where he worked with airport operations for three years. Fascinated with the business side of the company, he decided that it was time to get more education and found in UNC the perfect place to pursue an MBA. Now Allan is enjoying his time in business school while exploring different possibilities for his next steps. The most important thing about him is: he LOVES soccer!
Cody Hill- VP of Exchange Student Experience
Cody is originally from northern Virginia and studied Public Policy and Hispanic Studies at The College of William & Mary. After college he lived in Merida and Valencia, Spain for two years teaching high school English. He moved to Washington DC and worked in digital sales for three years for a well-funded start up company in the travel industry. Prior to business school he worked for a small consulting firm specializing in Hispanic and Multicultural consumer consulting. He'll be interning in Seattle in Amazon's Retail Leadership Development Program. He enjoys cycling, cooking, basketball, and singing karaoke.
Alejandra Chavez - VP of Exchange Student Experience
Alejandra Chavez is pursuing a double concentration in healthcare and consulting. Prior to pursuing a MBA, she worked in healthcare and higher education in Colorado. She has also been involved in pro-bono consulting projects with companies in Ecuador, Bolivia, and Ghana. She graduated from Colorado College with a Bachelor's Degree in Economics and Sociology. Alejandra is originally from Ecuador. She enjoys horseback riding, traveling, and learning from other cultures. She classifes herself as a "cheese head."
Irinie Habib - VP of Integration
Originally from Egypt, Irinie has lived across the Middle East (in Turkey and Morocco), as well as in Europe to obtain her masters in optoelectronic engineering. After graduation, she got exposed to both the non-profits and business research & investment worlds for 5 years, working with 30+ nationalities, before moving to Chapel Hill for B-school. Irinie is passionate about entrepreneurship, impact investment. She loves travelling to new places, reading a good book and learning something new everyday. She is excited about joining the IBA and hopes to contribute in making KFBS a home to international students.
Keturah Reed - VP of Integration
Keturah is a JD/MBA pursuing a concentration in corporate finance with a focus on entrepreneurship. Originally from NYC, she migrated to North Carolina to attain an undergraduate degree in Political Science. After college she worked in politics for two years in North Carolina, Washington, D.C., and Kansas. When she is not studying, Keturah enjoys dancing, reading historical fiction, and starting conversations with friends old and new.
