    Credit information for KFBS students

Kenan-Flagler students take a combination of business core and elective subjects at UNSW. Exchange students take four courses, which may be all in business or students may choose to take one course in economics or a humanities subject.

Students may elect to do a semester internship for academic credit. Students who intern are charged an additional fee that is directly payable to UNSW. More information can be found here.

Courses taken at the University of New South Wales will transfer back to UNC Pass/Fail. Achieving a grade of Pass (50 out of 100) or above will transfer back to UNC as a pass course, which will not affect UNC GPA. Students who receive any grade under Pass/50 will fail the course and an F grade will transfer back to UNC, which will affect their UNC GPA. Though transfer credit for this program is Pass/Fail, future employers and graduate schools will also look at the UNSW transcript, so grades are important.

Students participating on this program will transfer back 4 UNC credits for every 6 credit course at UNSW, and are expected to take four courses worth 6 UNSW credits each during the semester. Though each course is worth 4.0 UNC credits, students are permitted to earn a maximum of 3.0 BUSI credits per course at UNSW. Therefore, a student who earns a 50/Pass or above in all courses will receive a total of 16 UNC credits for their semester abroad, with a maximum of 12 credits that will count for BUSI credits. Remaining credits will transfer back to UNC as general, non-business elective credit.

This program also fulfills Experiential Education and you will earn 5 points towards the Kenan-Flagler Global Inclusive Leadership Initiative.

  • Student Life

Students going to the University of New South Wales study at the Kensington campus. Kensington is a close suburb of Sydney, the largest city in Australia with over 4.5 million people. Sydney is where the first British colony was founded in the late 18th century. Modern-day Sydney is a vibrant metropolis with an important financial sector, cultural, and tourist industries.

Located in the southern hemisphere, students going for the UNC spring semester will find summer-like temperatures. Students going for the UNC fall semester will start their semester in July, the middle of the mild Australian winter.
