    Credit information for KFBS students

Aalto University School of Business offers over 160 business courses taught in English. Aalto students can specialize their Economics and Business Administration major in Management, Accounting, Business Technology, Marketing, Finance, and Economics.

All courses can be taken in English, and no prior study of Finnish language is expected. However, the Aalto University Language Centre does offer a Finnish Language and Culture course for interested students during their semester exchange.

Courses taken at Aalto will transfer back to UNC as Pass/Fail. Achieving a grade of 3 (out of 5) or above will transfer back to UNC as a pass course, which will not affect UNC GPA. Students who receive any grade under 3 will fail the course and an F grade will transfer back to UNC, which will affect their UNC GPA. Though transfer credit for this program is Pass/Fail, future employers and graduate schools will also look at the Aalto School of Business transcript, so grades are important.

Students participating on this program will transfer back 3 UNC credits for every 6 ECTS credit course, and are expected to take four to five courses worth 6 ECTS credits each during the semester. A student who earns a grade of 3 or above in all courses will receive a total of 12-15 UNC credits for their semester abroad.

This program also fulfills Experiential Education and you will earn 5 points towards the Kenan-Flagler Global Inclusive Leadership Initiative.

  • Housing

In the Helsinki region there are two large student housing organizations that Aalto works with: HOAS (Foundation for Student Housing in the Helsinki Region) and AYY (Aalto University Student Union). Student apartments typically consist of 3-5 bedrooms, a shared living room, kitchen and bathroom. Student apartments are situated around the Helsinki area. Students apply for housing directly through the above organizations after you have been accepted into the exchange program. Please note that because there is limited student housing available, Aalto cannot guarantee student housing for everyone.
