When faced with change and uncertainty, to whom do you turn for support? Your family, of course. Our UNC Kenan-Flagler family is a great network to turn to in this time of rapid change. Whether you need career connections, solutions to a business challenge or friends to lean on, your UNC family is here. Reach out to classmates and other alumni, your favorite faculty and staff or current students. Tar Heels are just the folks you'll want on your side.
The May Alumni Council meeting marked a shift in our focus. As we've wrapped up the formative work of council subgroups in Development, Clubs and Connectivity, the Council now targets one or two issues each semi-annual meeting cycle. This May we focused on the Branding and Marketing of Kenan-Flagler, as well as finding ways to increase participation in our Annual Fund.
UNC Kenan-Flagler operates within an extremely competitive and increasingly global marketplace. Together, we've built a great foundation, strengthened by the retention and recruitment of great faculty, improved curriculum, and ever increasing quality of students. Now we need to ensure our brand clearly articulates the phenomenal strengths and people of UNC Kenan-Flagler. We are working with UNC staff and leadership to better develop our brand and marketing strategy. Your feedback through the 2007 Alumni Survey has been an integral part of our discussion. We'll look to partner with you in marketing UNC in your workplace, to prospective students and the business community at large.
We also reviewed the school's development efforts, with a special focus on annual giving. Following the success of the recent Capital Campaign, we're seeking ways to reach out to all alumni. A gift is a gift, no matter how small, and seemingly small gifts can have a major impact. We look to reach out to each of you as a partner in UNC's growth. Please think about what is important to you; what programs or initiatives you find compelling as you consider making an annual gift. You can give online here.
I'd like to offer a special welcome to our new members: Jeff Tucker (MBA '00), Nicole Weeldreyer (MBA '99), Cesar Elizondo (MBA '00), and Jan Davis (AB '73, MBA '79). Our new members reflect the diverse and increasingly global focus of alumni work and life, and are already making great contributions. Please continue to connect with us - you have a motivated team working on your behalf who are eager to hear from you!
I appreciate your support of the Alumni Council in the 2007-2008 academic year. I've been privileged to work with a phenomenal group of your fellow alumni across programs and class years. As you already know, anytime UNC Kenan-Flagler graduates get together they are bound to make great things happen and have a lot of fun in the process. Together we are becoming a more integral and effective partner to UNC Kenan-Flagler's ascendancy as a world class business school. 2008-2009 promises to be another exciting year for UNC Kenan-Flagler and the Council, so stay connected to your UNC family and embrace challenge and success together with us.
