Ms. Phillips holds a Bachelors' of Science in finance from the University of Florida and an MBA from Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She began her career in information technology, designing and managing technical projects at SunTrust Bank, at a hospital in Florida, and at a software startup in Boston. After business school, she joined McKinsey & Company's Washington, D.C. office where she served clients in a variety of industries including media, private equity, healthcare, telecommunications, transportation, education, and high tech, eventually specializing in public sector, serving defense, intelligence, and public finance clients on organizational design and leadership development issues. She then served as General Manager of the Washington D.C. market and the Restaurants division of LivingSocial, a social commerce company headquartered in Chinatown. Ms. Phillips is currently an independent consultant, serving primarily technology start-up clients in the Washington, D.C. area.
