The Next Generation is a three-year series of conferences designed to prepare “next-generation” business leaders and scholars who are focused on innovations in global business practices.
Developed by the Center for International Business Education and Research and Frank Hawkins Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise, the program aims to inspire and develop a new generation of scholars to pursue research on leading issues of global competiveness.
The inaugural conference, “Innovating the Global Supply Chain,” in April 2011 welcomed more than 90 thought leaders from academia and the private sector.
They examined how the global supply chain is transforming the business and economic landscape and how innovation in its management can propel business competitiveness and growth in the future.
An invitation-only roundtable following the conference convened 30 junior academics from UNC and universities around the world who conduct research in areas related to global supply chain management. They presented and shared research findings and ideas and discussed challenges and opportunities they face in pursuing their research. Future conferences are being planned to focus on innovations in global marketing (April 2012) and finance (December 2012).
