Business students and professionals can learn more about the fundamentals of understanding and conducting business in Brazil by participating in two webinars being presented by CIBER’s Best Practices in Global Business Education Webinar Series.
“This Week in Brazil: A Cultural Foundation to Understand Current Events in Brazil” on Jan. 15 will review events and stories about Brazil that are currently in the news and provide background about the cultural, economic, historical and business factors necessary to understand the significance of these events for Brazilians and for international communication.
“Current Challenges that Multinational Companies Are Facing in Brazil: Brief Case Studies,” scheduled for April 16, will examine some of the challenges that multinational companies face as they adjust to operations in Brazil. Brief case studies include Google, Chevron, FMC and ESPN.
Both webinars will be presented by Dr. Orlando R. Kelm, associate professor, Department of Spanish and Portuguese, and associate director, Business Language Education, at the University of Texas at Austin.
“Dr. Kelm possesses a great deal of knowledge and insight about the country of Brazil and its business environment and we are fortunate to have access to him through these outstanding webinars,” says Julia Kruse, executive director for UNC CIBER.
The webinars are part of the Essentials for Successful Cross-Cultural Business program, a series of workshops and webinars for professional development. The webinars focus on best practices in international business education and research and on lessons learned. They provide an opportunity for professional development and online networking with colleagues around the world and are ideal for business professionals across industries and MBA students who seek to refine their cross-cultural competence.
