> Courses and Training Overview

Information is at the heart of all activity in financial markets. Students must learn to use information and complex analytical tools to manage assets and add value for clients.

To meet this need, the CML is the central financial resource at UNC for the creation and distribution of financial information. The CML also provides leading-edge research for financial industry managers and scholars with real-time access to financial tools used on Wall Street today. The Reuters 3000 Xtra system is the backbone of the CML with Factset providing broad firm-level data.

> Additional sponsor information

The CML provides a real-world setting for students to manage equity and fixed-income portfolios. The CML enhances the Applied Investment Management (AIM) student funds program as well.

Additional CML facts:

  • The Lab holds up to 49 students at 15 workstations and provides an exclusive office for the AIM program.
  • The CML has open access hours for students to conduct research for assignments, term papers, theses and independent studies.
  • The room serves as a networked computer lab for experiments and supports research in areas such as risk management and financial modeling.
