Earn a highly respected Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at The University of North Carolina.

The business major requires you to take basic courses from all areas of business during your junior year. You choose four or five more business courses during your senior year, called business electives. Business electives help you to develop a focus as you pursue your business degree. Courses from other UNC departments add to this. The result is that you are able to see "the big picture." We believe that completion of the B.S. Degree in Business Administration creates an advantage for you to compete in the job market.

You may choose to complete a Minor in Business Administration instead of a Major for your B.S. Degree Program.

B.S. Degree in Business Administration Curriculum

We offer an education that teaches you about business and the arts and sciences. The B.S. Degree in Business Administration required courses include:

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Degree (BSBA) Major Curriculum

The business major B.S. degree program takes four years, eight semesters, to complete. During your first and second year at UNC, you take courses in basic skills and perspectives required of all UNC students and which are an important part of your business administration degree.

Develop important skills in the B.S. Degree in Business Administration program:

  • Effective written and oral communication
  • Critical thinking and problem solving
  • Leadership
  • Teamwork

UNC requires you to complete at least three semesters of a foreign language for your bachelor of science in business administration degree. You must complete four semesters of a foreign language if you concentrate in international business.

You complete business prerequisites prior to entering the B.S. degree program majoring in business administration. After admission to the business major program, you take required courses in each of the basic areas of business in your third and fourth year. You also choose elective courses both in business and from other UNC departments.

B.S. Degree in Business Administration Minor Curriculum

The business minor offers a basis in management. You may apply for the minor in business administration degree program if you major in a department from one of the following:

  • College of Arts & Sciences
  • School of Information and Library Science
  • School of Journalism and Mass Communication
  • School of Public Health

You must take the equivalent of five 3 credit hour junior and senior business courses (minimum 15 credit hours) to complete the minor. The program takes three or four semesters to complete. Learn more about prerequisites and admissions. Admission to the minor is competitive.

We use rankings as a rough measure of customer satisfaction. While we are already ranked as one of the top business schools in the country for our B.S. Degree in Business Administration, our long-term goal is to be ranked consistently in the top 10 across the major ranking publications.
