Reunion Weekend 2010 was held October 22 -24 and was a tremendous success. Over 230 alumni and their families and friends joined faculty, staff and current students for a wonderful weekend with absolutely perfect Chapel Hill fall weather.
On Friday, we kicked off with golf at Finley and later that afternoon everyone enjoyed our annual “Barbecue and Bluegrass” reception, with many former faculty legends in attendance; including Rollie Tillman, Dick Levin, Jay Klompmaker, Curtis McLaughlin, David Rubin and Dick Rendleman. The evening concluded with many alumni reliving their student days at He’s Not Here, during a great party hosted by the MBA Student Association.
On Saturday, we began with class breakfasts, followed by our annual service project for Any Soldier, Inc., where over 40 alumni prepared packages and wrote letters for our overseas troops. Attendees then heard Dean Jim Dean deliver his “State of the School” address, followed by a wonderful presentation on the history of the Business School by Professor Emeritus Rollie Tillman. Then came a set of faculty seminars on Globalization (by Peter Brews), Investments (Alex Arapoglou in our Capital Markets Lab), Entrepreneurship (by Patrick Vernon) and the Generational Workplace (by Ben Rosen). There was also a special session on Consulting Today at Kenan-Flagler led by Paul Friga.
Everyone enjoyed the great food and atmosphere at our Lunch on the Lawn, and Saturday was capped off by our new event, “Roll the Dice on Franklin Street” at Top of the Hill. At the Kenan-Flagler Casino, everyone had a great time playing blackjack, roulette, craps, poker and those with the most chips at the end won some super prizes. Immediately after, most alumni remained on Franklin Street to watch the Tar Heels take on Miami (but alas, no victory).
The weekend ended in grand style with Sunday brunch at the historic DuBose House at the Rizzo Center in Meadowmont.
It was a great weekend of networking, fun and reconnecting with classmates and UNC Kenan-Flagler. Thanks to all that attended and we look forward to seeing you at next year’s Reunion!
