Reunion Weekend 2009 was held October 2 - 4 and was a resounding success. Over 300 alumni and their families and friends joined faculty, staff and current students for a wonderful weekend with perfect Chapel Hill weather.
On Friday, we kicked off with golf at The Preserve and later that afternoon our Reunion participants enjoyed our annual “Barbecue and Bluegrass” reception, with many former faculty legends in attendance; including Rollie Tillman, Dick Levin, CL Kendall, Jay Klompmaker, Mike Miles, John Pringle and Curt McLaughlin. UNC Chapel Hill Chancellor Holden Thorp spoke to the crowd. The evening concluded with many alumni reliving their student days at He’s Not Here, at a great party hosted by the MBA Student Association.
On Saturday, the day began with our annual service project for Any Soldier, Inc., where over 30 alumni prepared packages and wrote notes for our overseas troops. Attendees participated in three wonderful faculty seminars on Globalization (by Peter Brews), Entrepreneurship (by Ted Zoller) and Investments (Bob Connelly in our new Capital Markets Lab), as well as tours of the newly-renovated McColl Buildings.
Everyone enjoyed the great food and atmosphere at our Pre-Game Brunch. Many alumni and their guests then attended the UNC vs. Virginia football game (alas, not a victory for the Tar Heels), while others attended a game-viewing party at Spanky’s on Franklin Street. The day was capped off by our special Post-Game Celebration.
The weekend ended in grand style with Sunday brunch at the historic DuBose House in Meadowmont.
It was a great weekend of networking, fun and reconnecting with classmates and UNC Kenan-Flagler. Thanks to all that attended and we look forward to seeing you at next year’s Reunion.
