On the backend of a particularly rough economic patch, where do we go from here? What is the prognosis for employment, housing, and economic output going forward and what are the remaining headwinds? In addition to exploring these questions, this session will provide some thoughts on the evolving global economic landscape as well as some commentary on the long-run U.S. budget situation.

Greg will demonstrate some of the key applications in the lab and demonstrate how the the financial information systems are incorporated into the finance curriculum. The session will also provide an update on current market and economic conditions using the CML resources.

Emotional Intelligence (EI) --includes self-awareness; knowledge of strengths and vulnerabilities; effective expression of feelings and thoughts; and the ability to manage the demands and stresses of everyday living. The challenges of today's business world make EI a skill even more difficult yet more important for organizations. EI can be critical to leadership performance and this workshop will deepen your understanding of emotional intelligence capabilities. You will have the opportunity to consider some of the building blocks of EI, identify strategies to develop EI and how to apply EI to teams.

Based upon research on best practices in consulting firms and other organizations, Professor Paul Friga will share a module right out of the UNC Kenan-Flagler consulting curriculum. He will lead participants through a discussion and live exercise that will shed light on this topic.

“Finding (or Re-finding) Your Passion and Keeping Your Day Job”

Lisa Jones Christensen, Associate Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship

This interactive session will discuss strategies for rekindling your passion for change, sustainability, and social entrepreneurship while being realistic about what you can and cannot do at your stage in life. Based on highlights from the updated KFBS sustainability curriculum, we will discuss how individuals can and do tackle problems like poverty and climate change- regardless of job title. Ideally, you will return to work energized and ready to make small and large changes for a greater good.
