Reed Loughrey is the Director of Portfolio Analysis at Smith & Nephew in the Biologics and Spine division. In this role, Reed is responsible for executing M&A and licensing transactions and portfolio management of the Biologics’ internal development pipeline. Prior to joining Smith & Nephew, Reed spent the four years in the private finance and portfolio management groups at Allied Capital in Washington, DC. While at Allied, Reed was responsible for buyout transactions and managing restructuring projects. Reed’s sector expertise includes consumer products, health care products and services and financial institutions. Before attending business school, Reed worked for three years in the investment banking groups of Wachovia Securities and Putnam Lovell Securities where she was responsible for M&A transactions, private capital raises and valuation assignments. Reed's experience also includes investment positions with Dogwood Equity and Security Technology Ventures. Reed received her MBA from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School where she was a Tiger Fellow. Reed holds a BA in Economics from UNC Chapel Hill.
