Kick-off with Immersion Week

The Weekend MBA Program kicks off with an Immersion Week (Sunday – Saturday, February 8-14, 2015). You’ll spend the week at the Rizzo Conference Center in Chapel Hill, a short drive from the UNC campus. Your partner is invited to join you for dinner on Friday evening and to stay overnight to participate in special partner activities on Saturday morning.

We’re working on the details of your immersion week, but here are some highlights from last year to give you an idea of what you can expect:

  • Sunday: Check in during the early afternoon, attend an orientation program and enjoy dinner with current students and alumni at the DuBose House at the Rizzo Center.
  • Monday: Finish orientation program and begin your first three classes followed by dinner at the DuBose House.
  • Tuesday: Continue with your Communication, Analytical Tools for Decision Making, and Corporate Financial Accounting core courses. Dine at a Chapel Hill restaurant.
  • Wednesday: Continue the accounting course and begin Developing Leadership and Management courses.
  • Thursday: Participate in team-building exercises during the EMBA Adventure.
  • Friday: Continue your leadership and management skills course and Financial Accounting course. Meet your partner for dinner at the DuBose House at Rizzo.
  • Saturday: Continue the communication and Analytical Tools courses while your partner participates in a special orientation, team building and partner networking program.

Class Schedule for Core Courses

After immersion week, you’ll attend classes approximately every third weekend. Most weekends will consist of a Friday-Saturday schedule, with a Friday-Sunday schedule for some weekends.

We’ve arranged your class schedule to make travel planning as convenient as possible. Since class starts at 10:00 a.m. on Fridays, most students travel to the McColl building that morning. On Saturday, your classes begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Rizzo Conference Center, so you can be on your way home by mid-afternoon.

Here’s a typical Weekend Program schedule during the core curriculum:

10:00 – 12:00 pm Communication (session 1)
12:00 – 1:00 pm Lunch
1:00 – 3:00 pm Analytical Tools for Decision Making (session 1)
3:15 – 5:15 pm Analytical Tools for Decision Making (session 2)

Evening options: an additional class, dinner and networking, program – related workshops, team meetings, individual study and relaxation
