OneMBA Class of 2010
Group Director, Business Development
The Coca-Cola Company - Atlanta, GA
" I learned more from working with global teams than I ever expected – from setting up a global conference call to understanding the impact of cultural differences."
“When I started researching MBA programs, I had been at Coke for 24 years, working with our U.S. customers. My goal was to broaden my mind and have a fun, rich experience that would give me a better understanding of global business. When I learned about OneMBA, I thought, ‘Wow, this is perfect for me.’ I never expected that it would also be a springboard to a new role in global business at Coke.
It’s a truly global program. UNC partners with four other schools located around the world, so we learned from their students and faculty during four global residencies. The once-a-month class schedule was also attractive. I could immerse myself in the learning experience and still spend most weekends at home with my family.”
- Global collaboration: “I learned more from working with global teams than I ever expected – from setting up a global conference call to understanding the impact of cultural differences. I also gained a deeper appreciation for how an effective, diverse team can find better solutions than an individual.”
- Executive opportunities: OneMBA helped me build the business skills needed to operate in a global environment. In January of 2011, the OneMBA background really paid off for me. I was offered a position in our Global Customer Leadership group. In this new role, I lead the Global Team that’s responsible for sales to one of the largest restaurant companies worldwide. This new position really brings all of the lessons from OneMBA to life as I travel the globe, meeting with both customer and Coke associates in all different markets. The OneMBA has opened a world of opportunities for me.”
