About the KFBSF Real Estate Fund
The KFBSF Real Estate Fund I, LP was established in 2007 with two objectives in mind, education and the achievement of potential investment returns.
As described in the initial Offering Memorandum to the Fund’s Limited Partners, the primary objective of the Real Estate Fund is to enhance the educational opportunities available to select students at the Kenan-Flagler Business School. By giving students a hands-on experience in the operation of a private investment fund, students receive a unique opportunity to establish personal and professional relationships with national real estate developers and investors.
The secondary objective of the Partnership is to provide potential investment returns to the General Partner and the Limited Partners of the Real Estate Fund. Student managers work with the real estate faculty and friends of the Business School to identify and evaluate investment opportunities for the Real Estate Fund.

Managing the Fund
The General Partner of the Real Estate Fund Board of Directors consists of six members, four are from the Kenan-Flagler Business School and two are from outside the school. To oversee and approve each investment of the Real Estate Fund, the Real Estate Fund looks to an Executive Committee formed from four of the General Partners. In addition, a Faculty Committee and an Advisory Committee also guide the student managers in their investment process.
2009-2010 Student Managers
Our student managers are second year MBA students.
In the fall of 2009, three new student managers are selected to join this team. These additions to the team will ensure a smooth and continuous process from one team to another. In the spring, three first years are selected by the current team to begin the next transition of student managers.
