Early Employment Opportunities

Summer Internship

Many on-campus MAC employers conduct internship interviews for currently enrolled Kenan-Flagler senior BSBAs admitted to the MAC Program. Internships occur immediately after undergraduate graduation (the summer just prior to the start of the MAC Program). Students who graduate the prior December may opt for an internship in the winter rather than summer. If the student has a successful internship, the employer generally makes the intern an offer of full-time employment, to begin upon completion of the MAC degree requirements. The successful internship student begins his/her MAC year with a full-time job offer.

When interviews occur
The internship interview process begins in mid-August and continues through the fall, so students must be accepted into the MAC Program by August 1st. For those BSBA students who choose to apply to the MAC Program at the December 1 deadline, please note that there is no guarantee that an on-campus employer will elect to interview you at that late a date. Students who are very serious about obtaining a MAC internship are strongly encouraged to have their acceptance into the MAC Program by August 1 (see 'Who is eligible' below).

Who is eligible
Currently enrolled Kenan-Flagler senior BSBAs who have been accepted into the MAC Program by August 1. (Note: Because the interview process begins early, in order to ensure your participation, you should plan on submitting your application paperwork and completing the in-person interview in the summer, so that your acceptance can be determined no later than August 1.)

Fellows Program

Some employers provide funding, as well as a three-year employment contract for selected students, upon graduation through the Fellows Program.

This Program allows eligible students to interview and accept full-time employment offers prior to the onset of the MAC summer classes. A portion of the student’s tuition and fees is paid by the employer. In return, the student agrees to a three-year work contract. The amount of a Fellows sponsorship is $10,500 and should be considered taxable.

Who is eligible
Sponsorship as a MAC Fellow is available to admitted MAC students who applied for admission on the December 1st deadline (not available to March 1st applicants). Currently enrolled BSBA students in the Kenan-Flagler Business School are not eligible for this Program, as they are eligible for an internship instead. (Note: Fellows applicants must be able to commit to a three year employment position in the US at the time of the Fellows interviews – candidates with F-1 visa status will not qualify.)

Other details
MAC Fellows are hired through an early spring interview process and sponsored financially ($10,500 award) by one of the on-campus MAC employers. Final sponsorship decisions will be made by employers prior to the onset of the MAC summer classes. Students will pay for their summer MAC classes; Fellow sponsorship monies are applied to tuition for the fall and spring semesters. Financial questions pertaining to your specific situation should be directed to at 919-962-9096.

Application Deadline
To ensure participation in the Fellows interviews, candidates must apply and be accepted for admission by the December 1 deadline.
