Domestic Business Projects will bring together consulting teams of 4-5 graduates and undergraduates with the goal of building comprehensive and actionable strategies for United States corporations and not-for-profits. STAR - DBP teams begin their projects by determining the scope of their work with the client and signing a confidentiality agreement. Over the life of the project, teams typically analyze the market, assess the competitive situation, develop a strategy and deliver an action plan that includes financials, risk assessment and a detailed implementation plan.

If you are a Kenan-Flagler MBA, please indicate if you are applying to be a Team Member or Project Leader or either:

Describe why you would be an ideal participant on a STAR - Domestic Business Project team in terms of your interest, expertise and background. If you are an MBA and would be interested in being a DBP project leader, please give prior managerial or leadership positions, or other evidence that will help us understand why you would be good in the position.

Statement of Commitment

If I am chosen to participate in the Global Business Project, I understand that when I register, I will be committing to several terms and process that are different from a typical graduate business courses. I signify that I am aware and agree to the terms of this course by checking each statement below.

$2750 Participant Fee: I realize that there is a $2750 course fee that covers accommodations, meals, and special team training in DC and the hub city in the destination country. I am also aware that I should check with my school's CIBER representative to find out if there are subsidies available to offset all or part of this fee
A $500 non-refundable course deposit will be required upon registration for the GBP course - due by December 15, 2009.
March 12-14, 2010 - Washington, DC: The Global Business Project orientation weekend, March 12 - 14 (noon Friday to 3pm Sunday) is a required part of the course and by making this application I agree to attend.
I realize that I am responsible for paying for my transportation to DC and the round-trip airfare to the hub city (Japan, China, Poland, Russia, or Brazil) training in my project's destination country. In-country housing and transportation expenses will be the responsibility of the client/company with whom I am working.
Intent to Enroll: Unique projects require unique skill sets. The GBP selection process includes matching your unique skills with other applicants so that the total GBP team will be dependent upon each other to produce a quality end-product. The teams for each project will be chosen so that collectively my team will be competent in the language, familiar with the country and industry, and will possess the functional expertise needed to perform the project tasks better than any one member of the team could perform alone. By completing this application, I am signifying my intention to enroll in the course, should I be assigned to a project team.
I understand that even if I know little to no language in a country (ies) for which I applied, if I am chosen for that country, I will be expected to follow the plan I outlined above for learning some of the language, and that I will be expected to follow through with that plan. Beginning in January, I will demonstrate an improvement in the language to my GBP Country's Language Faculty Advisor, at the DC Kick off weekend and again before our team leaves for the country. I further understand that language improvement will be factored into the grade I receive for the course.
I understand that the preferences I listed on this application will be considered during the review process, but that there is no guarantee that all my preferences will be accommodated.
If you have any questions about this application or the program please contact your CIBER representative or contact GBP Program Manager, Debbie Williams at
