BSBA Concentration in International Business

Back to Concentration Options

The Concentration in International Business (IB) includes 9 credit hours and the following:

  • Semester or summer study abroad in a BSBA-approved program
  • Modern foreign language completion through Level 4
  • International business courses (six of the nine credit hours must in international business)

IB Concentration Study Abroad

The concentration in International Business includes undertaking a semester or summer study at a BSBA-approved location. Kenan-Flagler offers students a geographically diverse set of locations for possible study.

Students may make requests for approval of other international study experiences through
the UNC Honors Program or the UNC Burch Programs.

Study abroad taken before Kenan-Flagler admission is not considered unless by prior
approval.

IB Concentration Foreign Language

The concentration in International Business includes completion of a modern foreign language through level 4, except as noted below:

  • Students who place into level 4 must complete level 4
  • Students who place into level 1 of the language studied in high school (and who
    continue study in that language) must complete level 3, but will not receive UNC credit toward graduation for level 1
  • Completion of RHET A and B by non-native speakers of English satisfies this
    requirement
  • Students who place beyond level 4 are exempt from this requirement but must substitute an additional international business course

IB Concentration Courses

The concentration in International Business includes completion of at least three courses,
two of which must be BUSI courses, from the following:

BUSI 615 Business Between the Americas and the Pacific Rim

BUSI 618 Multinational Financial Management
BUSI 619 Global Business Issues (restricted to GLOBE)
BUSI 622 Managing Global Operations
BUSI 623 Global Venturing (restricted to GLOBE)
