Leadership Seminar for Women Offered by UNC Kenan-Flagler
Building women’s leadership skills is the focus of a new seminar offered by the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School Nov. 12-14.
UNC Executive Development will present its first "Women in Business: Transitioning to Leadership"
seminar at its Paul J. Rizzo Conference Center in Chapel Hill.
The seminar is aimed at mid- and senior-level managers and executives who are moving into strategic roles. The intensive three-day seminar will provide practical strategies and skills for:
- managing power and politics in a business environment
- problem-solving and decision-making
- fostering teamwork
- creating alliances and building professional networks
- coaching and managing
The seminar will be taught by UNC Kenan-Flagler professors, including marketing professor Sridhar Balasubramanian
, strategy professor Alison Fragale
and management communication professor Heidi Schultz
.
Dr. Debra Condren, author of "Ambition is Not a Dirty Word: A Woman's Guide to Earning Her Worth and Achieving Her Dreams," will be the keynote speaker. Condren is a psychologist, business and executive coach, and founder and executive director of the Women's Business Alliance.
Senior business leaders will coach and work one-on-one with participants. Among the mentors sharing their C-Level experiences will be Suzanne Sutter, Make-A-Wish Foundation trustee and former CEO of Things Remembered, Inc., and Sally Paull, vice president of Dentsply International.
"Women seeking to accelerate their development as they prepare for current and future opportunities in leadership will benefit from this seminar," said Lee Williams, director of programs for UNC Executive Development. "They draw on the experiences of business leaders, faculty and other participants as they shape personal plans to drive career success."
