The Wall Street Journal Ranks UNC Kenan-Flagler No. 6
The Wall Street Journal ranked UNC Kenan-Flagler 6th in its national ranking of MBA programs
based on surveys of corporate recruiters. The MBA Program was ranked 8th in 2006.
Among "most improved schools," recruiters ranked UNC Kenan-Flagler No. 7 in a tie with London Business School. Recruiters cited schools’ efforts to "integrate the various academic disciplines, increased attention to interpersonal and leadership skills, greater international content, and more practical experiential learning."
Based on nominations for academic excellence
, recruiters ranked UNC Kenan-Flagler:
- 5th for corporate social responsibility
- 9th for marketing
The Wall Street Journal also reported how recruiters in various industries
ranked the schools. Ratings of UNC Kenan-Flagler by industry were:
- Health-care products and services 2nd
- Technology/telecommunications/Internet 2nd
- Management consulting 8th
- Consumer products 9th
"The Wall Street Journal ranking is based on surveys of corporate recruiters, who described our students as ‘well-rounded,’ ‘eager to succeed,’ and ‘well prepared’ while also possessing the ‘ability to work in teams’ and ‘strong leadership potential.’ That is music to our ears because those are exactly the qualities we are all striving for," said Dean Steve Jones. "I want to congratulate the Class of 2007 for earning those accolades, and both congratulate and thank the faculty and staff members who taught and prepared the Class of ’07."

James W. Dean Jr., senior associate dean for academic programs, was quoted in an article about customized, nondegree programs for executives in "Schools Create Courses To Fit Employers' Needs."
The ranking is based on recruiters’ perceptions of the school and its students on 21 attributes; recruiters’ future plans to recruit at the schools and hire their graduates; and the number of recruiters who said they recruited at the schools.
