Storrie Elected President of MBA Career Services Council

The MBA Career Services Council (MBA CSC) has elected Mindy Storrie as its new president.

Storrie is director of MBA Career Services at UNC Kenan-Flagler.

The MBA CSC is a global association of MBA career professionals. Its mission is to set standards of excellence for the profession and to be the source for valuable MBA employment and market information.

The council has 300 members representing 210 universities. In 2004, membership was expanded to include employer and affiliate professionals responsible for college or university graduate-level employment.

"As the MBA CSC marks its 10th anniversary, we will continue working to provide a dynamic forum for the exchange of ideas and information that are crucial to our profession," said Storrie. "We will continue to focus on key initiatives such as the use of standard and ethical operating procedures, including the reporting of salary and employment data."

Storrie succeeds Bill Brady of Brigham Young University’s Marriott School of Management as president.

In addition to UNC, the board includes business schools at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, William & Mary and Thunderbird, and at the universities of Cornell, Chicago, Southern California, Buffalo, Vanderbilt, Brigham Young, Drexel, Arizona State, South Florida, Ohio State, Washington, California at Irvine, Florida International and Utah.

Storrie brings a unique blend of expertise in the career services profession to her role as MBA CSC president. She has led the career services office at UNC Kenan-Flagler since 1998. In that role and as a former human resources manager, she has developed a deep understanding of the hiring needs of companies and their recruiters. As a 1997 graduate of the Executive MBA Program at UNC Kenan-Flagler, she can communicate the value of an MBA and how graduates add value to hiring organizations.

Before she joined UNC Kenan-Flagler, Storrie had over 14 years of management experience in manufacturing and retail. Most recently, Storrie was a human resources manager for a jet engine plant, GE Aircraft Engines, in Research Triangle Park, N.C.

She has experience in managing diversity initiatives, organizational design, positive discipline, career counseling, skill-based compensation design, interview assessments, performance management and leadership training programs. Her firsthand experience with team-based organizational structures and Six Sigma quality provides additional insight into the needs of hiring organizations.

Storrie has designed and taught various classes as a human resources manager. She has been a guest lecturer at UNC Kenan-Flagler in both undergraduate and MBA classes. In addition to her MBA from UNC Kenan–Flagler, she received a BS from The Ohio State University.
