Course Preparation: Find your leadership baseline
Before you start your journey to become a dynamic leader, you have to know your starting point. Before you begin your coursework, you will participate in 360° assessments and exercises that help you identify your leadership style – both strengths and vulnerabilities. During orientation, you will participate in team-building exercises to better understand how to be an effective team member.

Core Courses: Learn the principles of leadership
During your first year, you will learn the principles that are essential to business leaders in these required core courses:

  • Leading and Managing: You will learn the general principles that are common to effective leaders, such as decision-making and problem-solving abilities, power and authority, persuasion and influence, and motivation.
  • Strategy: You’ll learn how to make sound business decisions and communicate them clearly—skills required by an effective leader.
  • Ethics: Every leader must be prepared to face ethical dilemmas. You will study real-world cases and develop your ability to make sound decisions.
  • Management Communication: Effective leaders are clear communicators. You will improve your communication skills in small group settings with feedback from experienced communication faculty.

Elective Courses: Refine your knowledge of leadership principles
You may select elective courses that will expand your knowledge of leadership principles, including Power, Politics, and Leadership; Negotiations; Management of Workplace Diversity; Corporate Strategy; and many more.

Lessons of Experience
During your second year, you’ll attend guest speaker events for small groups of students. During the series, more than a dozen senior executives share important leadership lessons learned from their career successes and failures. The setting is private and confidential, creating an environment where their candor and openness will surprise you.
