MBA Leadership Scorecard
The MBA Leadership Scorecard brings everything together: activities that allow you to learn, practice, gain feedback, and reflect on your ever-growing leadership skills.
Earn credit; gain confidence
The Leadership Scorecard is a menu of hands-on activities that give you the chance to practice and expand your leadership skills. During your first year in the MBA Program, you will earn one credit hour toward graduation by completing activities that you select from a list of options. For example:
- Multi-rater assessment and feedback: Before you enter the MBA Program, you will collect feedback from your peers, direct reports, and/or managers at your previous job. You’ll receive feedback on how you approach tasks and critical management situations. You will find where you’ll thrive as a professional – and where you may stall.
- Managerial Simulation: You will participate in realistic role plays that allow you to practice handling critical situations that you will face in the business world. You will be put to the test in a safe environment by interacting with professional role players to develop your skills in resolving conflicts, leading change, delegating, and empowering others. Each simulation includes professional review and feedback.

- New Leader Simulation: The New Leader Simulation provides you the opportunity, as a Vice President of a global firm, to demonstrate your leadership to your senior management team and your organization. The exercise simulates what is waiting for you, as new hire, in your email inbox. The exercise will test you in the following skill areas: planning & organizing, written communication, interpersonal sensitivity, problem-solving & decision-making, delegation and empowerment, change management, interpersonal sensitivity, and strategic perspective.
- The Game of Leadership: Being able to influence people who do not report to you is one of the hallmarks of leadership. You will practice this vital skill in a game where you will respond to real-world business situations. Your “performance” will be refereed by a panel of communications experts and fellow participants. This small-group workshop gives all participants the opportunity to act as a leader.
- Executive leadership coaching: You will have the opportunity to work with a highly qualified coach, such as a former company president, a professional executive coach, or an executive who enjoys coaching in his or her spare time. Beforehand, you will create a customized plan for developing your leadership skills. When you meet one-on-one with your coach, you will review the plan and discuss opportunities for making the most of your MBA experience. You can also use your executive coach as a sounding board for achieving your professional goals and planning your transition from school back into the work world.
