How Companies Get Involved
Many companies and not-for-profit organizations gain fresh insights and develop future talent by engaging with our students through the Leadership Initiative. Here are ways organizations get involved.
Initiate a STAR project: STAR stands for “Student Teams Achieving Results.” Top MBA and BSBA undergraduate students gain real-world experience working on a consulting team for small or medium-size businesses or not-for-profit organizations. The student teams complete their projects over a four-month period, with guidance provided by a faculty advisor and an executive from the client organization. It is a win-win: the organization gains an actionable strategic plan for expansion and students gain experience leading a complex project with lasting results.

Sponsor a summer intern or hire a graduate: Your business or organization can offer an opportunity for a student to contribute to your company while developing his or her business knowledge and teamwork skills.

Sponsor a Leadership Day workshop: Leadership Days offer MBA students a chance to build leadership skills through interactive workshops taught by business leaders and UNC faculty. Your company can sponsor a workshop by offering skill-building, interactive training to MBA students, similar to what you provide to your own employees. Our students will gain exposure to the top-notch training your business offers its employees, and you will have an opportunity to see our students in action.
