Real Estate Education
The Center for Real Estate Development directs programs in real estate for Kenan-Flagler Business School's MBA, executive and undergraduate programs. Course offerings cover a range of issues facing real estate developers and practitioners, such as real property decision-making, finance, investment analysis, land use law and taxation.
The real estate program offers joint MBA degrees in regional planning (MBA/MRP) and law (MBA/JD). Executive Development offerings extend knowledge and discovery in the field of real estate, helping practitioners sharpen skills and stay abreast of emerging industry trends. Real estate also is taught at the undergraduate level.
MBA Education
The Center redesigned the MBA Real Estate Concentration in 2002 and most recently in 2008 to strengthen and expand the curriculum and ensure that its breadth, depth and scope match the demands placed on business leaders today.
- The Program provides MBA students solid grounding in real estate fundamentals during their first, not second, year. This helps them compete effectively for summer internships that significantly enhance their learning experience and position them for future employment.
- In their second year, MBA students take courses in real estate capital markets, international real estate, real estate law and real estate development process. For those interested in development, the experience is integrated through a capstone course in real estate development, which includes a required commercial development project.
Executive Development
UNC Kenan-Flagler serves as a lifelong learning partner for managers and executives, providing customized executive development programs for such groups as the American Financial Services Association, the Pension Real Estate Association and the Urban Land Institute. The Center's executive programs help business people keep pace with changing market dynamics while keeping the School close to the real estate community to ensure relevance and leadership in the Center's educational programs and research.
