CLDS and the Defense
Community
...Enabling the Network Centric World
CLDS is working with the US Department of Defense,
the various services, and their major suppliers
to create the capabilities demanded by the new
network-centric approach to war fighting and defense.
We work to assure the convergence of military
and commercial logistics and supply chain practices
needed in today's global environment.
In our Intelligent Systems Laboratory, we build
demonstrations and prototypes that demonstrate
the military's ability to leverage new technology
in order to link forces in a real-time, shared,
information-rich environment where mission decisions
can be made based on accurate situational awareness
and assessment of capability.
- In the logistics arena, we help our clients
build "sense-and-respond" capabilities that
reduce execution time lines, increase logistics
flexibility, and enhance the ability of the
warfighter to respond to threats.
- Our major initiative in vehicle/aircraft health
management and logistics support is helping
government clients better manage their fleets
through enhanced pattern recognition for real-time
performance tracking and failure prediction
in complex systems.
- CLDS' work with Boeing and other clients to
implement new RFID technology into logistics
resupply will help assure visibility and maximize
readiness.
CLDS also participates in the LOGTECH executive
education program that brings flag-level military
officers together with their private sector counterparts
to share best practices. LOGTECH is a program
of the Institute for Defense and Business at UNC. |
