Call for Applicants
The UNC Center for Sustainable Enterprise invites early-stage sustainable businesses from across North Carolina to join BASE, the Business Accelerator for Sustainable Entrepreneurship.
The current BASE call for applicants is now closed. A new call will be issued in November 2009.
Selection
Participants will be selected through a competitive review of application materials. Core selection criteria include:
- Highly innovative, transformative social and/or environmental change solution
- Credible and experienced leadership team
- A qualified market with high social and/or environmental need and growing economic potential
Application process
With a complete business plan or executive summary, the application should take fewer than 20 minutes.
Part I - Questionnaire
Complete the BASE Application Questionnaire
Part II - Executive Summary/Business Plan
Submit to
an executive summary of 3-5 pages which addresses the following:
Introduction
- Company mission and/or vision
- Bios of leadership team
Market Analysis
- The pressing social and/or environmental need your company addresses
- How your business model is innovative and different from existing efforts
- Discussion of industry risks and benefits
- Overview of major competitors
Operations Analysis
- Strategies your organization employs to achieve blended financial and social and/or environmental impact
- Brief discussion of the company's operations including manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, partners, etc
- Any plans for growth/scalability
Triple Bottom Line Analysis
- Strategies your organization employs to measure social and/or environmental impact
- Financial projections 3-5 years out (include current cash position)
Other
- One paragraph describing why BASE is a good fit for your organization.
