The goals of this reception are to:
• Demonstrate why global business competencies are important for business students
• Present the Global Business Center programs that support students in developing those competencies
• Provide a networking opportunity with the Global Business Center staff and business leaders
Interactive case session
Two global business leaders Jim Geiki, formerly at Burt’s Bees, and Fritz Willis, a Global Director from Clorox/Burt’s Bees, will present a real-life global business case they faced. Students will have an opportunity to reflect on the case, interact informally with the speakers, and to debrief on the actual outcomes.
Global Business Center overview
A brief presentation of Global Business Center programs, including the cross-cultural certificate program, the Emerging Markets Conference, the Sustainability Symposium and the Global Business Center paid fellowship positions and grant opportunities.
The reception will conclude with networking between students, the guest speakers, Global Business Center staff, and faculty.

About the Speakers:
Jim Geikie, Sr. Vice President, Global Marketing And Sales General Manager, International
Jim Geikie currently leads the sales and marketing activities for LA LUMIERE, LLC, a start-up skin care device company. Previously he was the head of consumer strategy and global marketing for RTP-based CREE, INC. where he developed the brand strategy, advertising, and marketing plan for Cree’s new consumer products division. Earlier in his career, Jim spent seven years with BURT’S BEES, INC. serving as head of global brand marketing and as general manager for the international division. Jim began his consumer products career at the European-based multinational UNILEVER HOME & PERSONAL CARE, INC. where he spent eighteen years in a variety of sales and marketing roles.
Jim has served on the board of directors for NATRUE, an international non-profit association whose mission is to protect the integrity and quality of natural skin care and beauty products, and for HABITAT for HUMANITY of DURHAM, NC.
A graduate of the University of New Hampshire, Jim lives in Raleigh, North Carolina with his wife, two daughters and a son.
Fritz Willis, Global Director, Business Planning, Technology, Trade and Training
Fritz is currently leading Clorox’s global business capabilities group, responsible for customer planning, sales technology, trade go to market and training/ org development capabilities. Prior to this current role, Fritz was a member of Clorox’s Global Corporate Innovation Team, where he led the development of Clorox’s Customer Innovation strategy and developed a roadmap to build shopper and retailer insights into Clorox’s innovation processes.
In his career with Clorox and Burt’s Bees, Fritz has held a variety of leadership roles across Sales, Marketing, R&D and Strategy. Fritz led the cross functional integration and change management initiative to integrate Burt’s Bees® into the parent company, Clorox. Fritz has also served as Vice President - Sales for Clorox’s Specialty Brands (including Glad®, Hidden Valley®, KC Masterpiece®, Fresh Step®, Scoop Away® and Kingsford), Vice President - Customer Capability, Vice President – Household Sales Planning and Director - Kroger Team. Fritz started his career with Procter and Gamble, where he worked across a diverse range of categories (eg, personal & health care, food & beverage, paper, soap) and brands ranging from Pantene® to Tide®.
Fritz is a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill (BSBA) and Duke University (MBA). He and his wife Kathi are active in the Raleigh/ Cary/ Durham/ Chapel Hill community and have two young children. Fritz coaches soccer and is an avid sailor.
